2016 Road Construction Projects

The following road construction projects are planned for 2016 and may impact your daily travel.

"1. Big Beaver Road between Woodward Ave and Adams Road will be completely resurfaced.  The road will be closed to through traffic!  (Everyone will have to find a new way to Somerset!)
the stated detour will be Woodard North to Long Lake, Long Lake to Adams, then back to Big Beaver and vice versa.  This work is scheduled to start in the Spring and last until the Fall."

2. I 75 Modernization Project - Beginning with the Bloomfield Township segment from Square Lake Road to South Boulevard, major reconstruction is set to begin in 2016 and include: rebuilding the road way, switching on and off ramps from the left side to the right side of the roadway at the Square Lake Road interchange, replacing the bridges at Adams, Squirrel, and Square Lake Roads, adding an interior lane for high occupancy vehicles (HOV), evaluating the need for an additional carpool lot, upgrading the existing Adams Road carpool lot, improving drainage, and when possible, connecting the safety path segments in the Township. A comprehensive plan for the 18 mile corridor will be pulled together with design guidelines that address aesthetic elements, such as decorative brickwork, attractive railing, and landscaping.

Be prepared for traffic delays along this route and other surface streets as people avoid I-75.
